Unity Through Sport

Mission

Unity Through Sport harnesses the power of sport as a universal language to bridge differences, reduce division, and bring people together across communities. Through values-driven programs rooted in respect, teamwork, and family values, we create opportunities for athletes, sports personalities and participants of all backgrounds to contribute, grow, and connect, ensuring fair access, shared purpose, and a level playing field for all.

Vision

We envision a world where sport serves as a powerful force for connection, bringing people together across differences, strengthening families, and fostering mutual respect, so that every individual has the opportunity to participate, belong, and thrive on a fair and level playing field. UTS will provide a powerful platform for individuals to share their personal journeys and express their heritage, using competition, teamwork, and visibility to tell their own stories with pride and authenticity.

Why Sports?

Sport is one of the most powerful unifiers in the world, transcending differences in background, culture, and belief by bringing people together around a shared passion and common purpose. On the field, ice, or court, teamwork, respect, discipline, and accountability matter more than where someone comes from or how they differ from others.

Sport teaches life lessons that extend far beyond competition which includes integrity, resilience, humility, and empathy, while reinforcing the importance of family values such as commitment, support, and perseverance. By fostering mutual respect and allyship, sport helps break down barriers, reduce division, and shape not only better athletes, but stronger families, communities, and quality individuals who carry these values into every aspect of life.

At its core, sport is grounded in merit, effort, skill, discipline, and character, so that opportunity and achievement are earned through performance rather than defined by status, identity, or politics. Sport helps protect a free and democratic society by reinforcing the core principles that sustain it, individual freedom, fair competition, rule of law, and personal responsibility. Through merit-based opportunity, respect for agreed-upon rules, freedom of expression, and voluntary participation, sport models democratic values in action, where success is earned, dissent is allowed, and diversity of thought coexists within a shared framework of mutual respect.

Our Story

Several high-profile athletes and sports executives came up with an idea for an initiative that would see athletes & sports personalities come together to fight Antisemitism. Over time, and while still not losing focus on its original goal, the idea expanded to include many other allies from different cultures, faiths and backgrounds. From there, Unity Through Sport was established. It was formed to be an organization that would aim to unite people, instead of dividing them further, with the key understanding that when athletes stand together, no community stands alone.

"The lesson never changes, so why is it so hard for some people to learn: No one is free until everyone is free. As Martin Luther King Jr. explained: 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.' So, let's act like it. If we're going to be outraged by injustice, let's be outraged by injustice against anyone."
